Class of 1958
September 20, 2012
4 months and 4 days left
until our reunion.
For Planning purposes, we're trying to get an idea of how many people will be attending the  reunion in Jackson Hole this Sept. 20-22. Please email Brenda Diener, diener14@ctc.net, if you plan to come, if you will be accompanied by anyone and your email address if you'd like for classmates to be able to contact you. For example:

Clark Brooks + Susan - total 2, cbrooks@wyoming.com
Page Dahl Crosland - total 1

Here is the very latest information as of April 20 from Clark Brooks who is doing a super job of planning a great reunion.

In the words of Monte Python, "I aint dead yet". so that means the OHS 54/55th reunion in Jackson Hole this September 20, 21 and 22 is still proceeding on schedule.

Here is where the planning stands:
9/20 - 6PM - Get together at Clark and Susan Brooks' for a BBQ and to renew old acquaintances. Petanque(Boule') matches are available for those willing.
9/21 - 10 AM - Teton Raptor Center for a tour and possible flying of raptors. Lunch at Doranan's on the deck in Moose - best view of the Tetons in the valley. Afternoon-float the Snake River through Grand Teton National Park with possible sightings of moose, bald eagles, elk, bears, etc. Evening - restaurant TBD
9/22 - 10 AM - Tour of the National Museum of Wildlide Art. Lunch at the museum. Afternoon at your leisure - here are some suggestions: walk around the town of Jackson, hike the Rockefeller Preserve to Phelps Lake, take the ferry across Jenny Lake and hike to Hidden Falls, hike to top of Snow King and take the chair lift down to save your knees, fishing, white water raft trip on the Snake, borrow a canoe or kayak from Clark and paddle String Lake to Leigh Lake, golf, take a nap.
6:30PM - dinner at the Alpenhof - Fixed price $38 (tax and service incl.) for your choice of elk or trout.
Jackson Hole is 1 1/2 hours by car south of Yellowstone so either before or after the reunion there is a lot to do in the area besides JH. If you are a fisherman/woman you'd be hard pressed to find better fishing and there is always climbing the Grand.
For those of you who haven't made reservations yet, the Alpenhor (www.alpenhoflodge.com) in Teton Village is the reunion hotel with negotiated rates $75-100 below market. Tell them you are with the "OHS '58 reunion. If you have any questions write me at cbrooks@wyoming.com.
See you in the Hole in September. If you don't come those who do will talk about you.

Alpenhof Lodge in Teton Village has given us a great group rate, ranging from $93 for a small queen room to $169 for a king room with fireplace. Breakfast is included. These rates are $50-100 off the per night rates of similar properties in Jackson and the village. Teton Village is on the west bank so not being in Jackson proper would not be a problem. (Note the Alpenhof's sister hotel in Scottland, Cullodon House, is Travel & Leisures #1 hotel in GB for 2011) When making reservations be sure to use the rate code "OHS58". Reservations can be made by calling the Alpenhof Lodge at 307 733 3242 or 800 732 3244. Their website is www.alpenhoflodge.com.

The program will be much like the 45th. Three evening dinners, each at a different location. The first evening, Thursday, will be very informal since many will be arriving that day. Friday and Saturday will be a little dressier. Jackson dresses very informally -sweaters, sport shirts and slacks or nice jeans for men and sweaters, jackets and pants for women. Daytime wear will be activity dependent. River float trips, wildlife viewing, tour of the National Museum of Wildlife Art, lunch at Dronan's, a visit to the raptor center, fly fishing, horseback riding, para-gliding are all options. Yellowstone National Park and or the Buffalo Bill Museum in Cody are other great side trips to consider.

Clark Brooks is our chairman and would like for you to email him if you are planning to attend. His email address is cbrooks@wyoming.com

See you in the Hole in 2012.

Clark TELLS US THAT A RECENT STUDY REPORTED IN THE POPULATION HEALTH METRICS JOURNAL INDICATED THAT JACKSON HOLE IS TIED WITH ALEXANDRIA, VIRGINIA FOR HAVING THE LONGEST FEMALE LIFE EXECTANCY (82-86 YRS) IN THE US. UNFORTUNATELY, MEN IN JACKSON HOLE DON'T LIVE AS LONG AS WOMEN (79-81 YRS), BUT THEY ARE STILL AMONG THE LONGEST LIVED IN THE COUNTRY. THE INDICATED ACTION FOR PEOPLE OUR AGE IS THAT THEY SHOULD PACK UP AND MOVE TO JACKSON HOLE ASAP.
IF FOR SOME REASON YOU CAN'T MOVE, YOU SHOULD PLAN TO ATTEND THE OHS 55TH  (54TH) CLASS REUNION. SEEING OLD CLASSMATES, RELIVING OLD TIMES, BREATHING THE JACKSON AIR AND DRINKING (THE WATER) WILL ADD AT LEAST A YEAR TO YOUR LIFE EXPECTANCY. NOW THERE'S A PROMISE NOT MANY 55TH (54TH) REUNIONS CAN MAKE.

All details will be coming via email or this website, so its important you make sure Brenda Diener (diener14@ctc.net) has your current email address. (Of course this website will also contain updated information) Please check with fellow classmates t see that they are receiving emails from Brenda about the "Reunion in the Hole". Pete Smith will be putting reunion information on the class website (www.ohsclassof58.myevent.com.) Pattie will see that the OHS Alumni Association is kept in the loop and covers it in the publications. Lest you think Jerry Hoerner has dropped under that radar, he's going to be "trail boss" when you get here.  If you have any questions Clark Brooks  can be reached at cbrooks@wyoming.com, 307 739 8701 or P. O. Box 254, Teton Village, Wyoming 83025.

Pictures from the 50th Reunion are now posted. Go to the photo album page and click on the very first photo album to see the photos of our classmates enjoying being together.

If you would like a copy of the class reunion photograph or the reunion book send an email to Pattie Bieser Edmonson at onedoubleeagle@sbcglobal.net. Or send Pattie a note (See roster page for address) They will be provided while supplies last.
